A Paradise Amidst Cornfields

Once upon a time, not so long ago, a wonderful community was formed amongst the lands of Central Illinois. A young man, L.L. Guyer, who had a dream and a vision that one day the two abandoned cabins and merchandise shop that he called home would grow into an enchanting community of neighbors and commerce established Brimfield, Illinois, then known as Charleston, on June 23, 1836. By 1840 nearly 300 people inhabited the area, forming a foundation of strength and solitary that could not be broken. Guyer’s dream then became a reality when the state legislature changed the town’s name to Brimfield – Charleston, Illinois already existed – establishing the land for all to know. Brimfield continued to prosper, and today the community lives happily ever after.
